Search for growth markets attract aviation leaders to Hong Kong today
Asian Aerospace International Expo and Congress 2009
8-10 September 2009
|
|

With an eye on opportunities in China and South East Asia, aviation leaders from across the globe gathered at Asian Aerospace 2009.
|
The world’s aviation community has once again converged on Hong Kong for the mega Asian Aerospace event. Over the next three days (8-10 September), more than 400 exhibitors and 10,000 visitors (including at least 3,000 from Mainland China) will discuss the status of the industry, explore new trends and opportunities and generate new business. Among the exhibitors are aviation giants including Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, CFM International, Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC), Embraer, Goodrich and Lufthansa Technics.
High profile events include the international exhibit debut of the C919 airliner, China’s largest commercial airliner, by COMAC. Other highlights include a display of 16 business aircraft (double the number shown in 2007) from the world’s leading manufacturers. The jets will be on view at the Hong Kong Business Aviation Centre, conveniently located alongside AsiaWorld-Expo.
The bi-annual expo and congress has now been held at AsiaWorld-Expo since 2007, and organisers, Reed Exhibitions, has already signed up to return again in 2011. Explaining the decision, Mr. Paul Beh, President of Reed Exhibitions, Asia/Pacific, said “AsiaWorld-Expo has a track record of hosting mega events, and offers the size and facilities needed for an event such as Asian Aerospace. Equally, the venue’s location, both alongside the award-winning Hong Kong International Airport, and within easy reach of the high-growth Mainland China and South East Asian markets, has also been a major draw card.”
In addition to the main aerospace exhibitions and industry conferences being held throughout AsiaWorld-Expo, a series of networking events are also being hosted at venues nearby, including the SkyCity Marriott Hotel and the Airport World Trade Centre.

“One Fair, Two Venues” makes Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair 2009 the largest in the world
Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair 2009
21-25 September 2009 - AsiaWorld-Expo
|
|

After expanding into AsiaWorld-Expo, this year’s Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair will be the largest such event in the world.
|
With the new product sectorisation initiative, this September’s Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair is set to attract the world’s largest number of exhibitors (around 3,000), supported by extra space and support from AsiaWorld-Expo. Covering more than 100,000 sqm – a 20 percent rise in the total exhibition space over the previous year, it will also be the world’s largest. At AsiaWorld-Expo, the fair will span eight halls, a massive 80 percent increase on the 2008 event.
To facilitate the international and regional buyers’ needs, a new layout with clear product sectorisation will be implemented in the upcoming September Jewellery & Gem Fair. All raw materials, including a wide selection of gems, semi-finished products, equipment and packaging will be located together at AsiaWorld-Expo. A survey of buyers and exhibitors showed that 94 percent favoured greater “sectorisation” at the fair, which allows visitors to quickly and efficiently locate the items they wanted.
Mr. Jimé Essink, President and Chief Executive Officer of UBM Asia Ltd said that “the additional space at AsiaWorld-Expo as well as the facilities on offer made hosting a ‘one fair, two venues’ event an excellent solution for its exhibitors and buyers.”
“AsiaWorld-Expo is ideally located in Hong Kong, an efficiently, business-focused, international city in the huge China market. Coupled with its superb facilities and services, AsiaWorld-Expo offers organisers another perfect venue in Hong Kong to stage international events for global exhibitors and buyers,” Mr. Essink added.
With further room for growth, AsiaWorld-Expo is well positioned to contribute to the long-term development and growth of both the Fair and the industry.

Three concurrently-run fairs in late October will bring exhibitors and visitors from around the world to events covering building, decoration and hardware, environmental products & services and the sports industry.

Within a busy week at the end of October, AsiaWorld-Expo will welcome thousands of exhibitors and buyers for three fairs being held side-by-side. The events – covering building, decoration and hardware, the environment, and sports – welcomed their highest-ever visitor numbers in 2008 and are looking forward to strong interest this year.
The building, decoration and hardware fair is divided into easy-to-locate zones, covering everything from interiors to raw materials for major external projects. The four-day fair attracts a wide range of professionals, including developers, architects, contractors, trades people and town planners.
With environmental issues topping the agenda across many countries in Asia, Eco Expo Asia has quickly grown into the most important event of its kind for business, government and non-government professionals. Highlights of this year’s fair include themed zones covering air quality, energy efficiency and energy, waste and recycling and eco-friendly products, while a number of international Pavilions will bring expertise and innovation from around the world.
Retail, licensing and franchise professionals from the sports sector will gather at the Sports Source Asia event at this peak buying time. Now in its third year, the event is already recognized as a leading trade event for equipment, sports shoes, sportswear and accessories, as well as fabrics and materials. Making a welcome return this year, is the popular Premium Zone, which brings the top brand names to showcase their latest brands.
